Report: Kings withdraw trade interest in Siakam
The Sacramento Kings are no longer pursuing Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Charania initially reported earlier Friday that the Kings had emerged as a serious trade suitor for the two-time All-Star ahead of the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 8.
Siakam is in the final season of a four-year, $136-million contract. The 29-year-old forward is averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game in his eighth season.
The Raptors have won their last two games after trading O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and a second-round draft pick in December. On the season, Toronto ranks 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 14-20 record.
The Kings withstood a spirited second-half comeback from the Raptors on Friday at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento in a 135-130 victory. Siakam had 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting in a losing cause.
With the win, the Kings remain in fifth in the Western Conference with a 21-13 record.
