Warriors assistant Dejan Milojevic dies at 46
Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic died Wednesday at age 46 after suffering a heart attack at a private team dinner Tuesday in Utah.
"We are absolutely devastated by Dejan's sudden passing," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said in a team statement. "This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him.
"In addition to being a terrific basketball coach, Dejan was one of the most positive and beautiful human beings I have ever known, someone who brought joy and light to every single day with his passion and energy. We grieve with and for his wife, Natasa, and their children, Nikola and Masa. Their loss is unfathomable."
League commissioner Adam Silver described Milojevic as a "beloved colleague and dear friend to so many in the global basketball community."
The NBA postponed Wednesday's contest between Golden State and the Utah Jazz shortly after the Warriors announced earlier in the day that Milojevic had suffered a heart attack.
Milojevic was in his third season as an assistant with Golden State and won a championship in 2022.
Prior to his time in the NBA, Milojevic served as a coach with Buducnost in Montenegro and Mega Basket in Serbia. During his time with Mega Basket, he helped develop many international players who entered the NBA, including two-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
Milojevic also played internationally for 14 years, winning three Adriatic League MVP titles from 2004-06.
