The Lakers will be without stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis for Thursday's matchup on the road against the Boston Celtics.

James will miss the game due to an ankle peroneal tendinopathy, while Davis will miss his second straight contest due to a bilateral Achilles tendinopathy and a left hip spasm.

The star pairing has been largely healthy this season, with James missing four games and Davis sitting out three. Nevertheless, L.A. has struggled to find consistency, ranking ninth in the Western Conference with a 24-25 record.

The Lakers are also without guard Gabe Vincent and Cam Reddish on Thursday.

Last season's Lakers-Celtics game in Boston ended in controversy. Celtics star Jayson Tatum made contact with James while the teams were tied during the last play of regulation but no foul was called, leading to a Boston win. The NBA determined postgame that James was fouled, which would have sent him to the free-throw line for the potential game-winner.
