Pistons ship Bojan Bogdanovic to Knicks
The New York Knicks are acquiring sharpshooting vet Bojan Bogdanovic from the Detroit Pistons, the team announced.
As part of the deal, the Pistons are also sending Alec Burks to New York. In return, the Knicks are apparently trading Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidiacono, and a pair of second-round picks to Detroit.
Bogdanovic was a steady veteran presence on the Pistons over the last season-and-a-half as the franchise navigates a tenuous rebuild. The 34-year-old is scoring 20.2 points per game - which was second on Detroit behind Cade Cunningham - while shooting 41.5% from beyond the arc on 7.4 attempts this campaign.
Burks returns to New York, where he spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns. He started in 49 of 130 games over that period, averaging 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds while hitting 40.8% of his threes.
Now in his third NBA season, Grimes has shown flashes of potential on the Knicks, who drafted him 25th overall in 2021. However, he's struggled to crack a consistent role in the rotation; he opened the season as a starter but was replaced in the lineup by Donte DiVincenzo after 20 games.
