Report: Lakers among front-runners to sign Dinwiddie
The Los Angeles Lakers are among the leading candidates to sign Spencer Dinwiddie after the Toronto Raptors waived the veteran guard Thursday, sources told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
The Dallas Mavericks are also pursuing Dinwiddie on the buyout market, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
Toronto acquired the 30-year-old in the trade that sent Dennis Schroder to the Brooklyn Nets earlier in the day.
L.A. was uninvolved in trades leading up to the deadline. The 27-25 squad is dealing with a handful of key injuries and sits ninth in the Western Conference.
Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points across 48 appearances, all starts. His scoring numbers are his lowest across an entire season since 2016-17.
The former second-rounder averaged 20.6 points in 2019-20 as one of the lead options on a playoff-bound Nets squad. He's remained a dependable scorer with shooting ability at all three levels.
