Otto Porter Jr. retires from NBA
Veteran forward Otto Porter Jr. has retired from the NBA.
"For the past 11 years, I had the chance to live my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA," Porter said in a statement. "That dream was capped by winning an NBA championship! Unfortunately, my body is not allowing me to play at the level that I expect of myself, and I have therefore decided to retire."
The Utah Jazz released the veteran forward earlier on Monday.
The Washington Wizards drafted Porter with the third overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He spent the majority of his career there, playing six seasons in the District. He won a championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2022, but the 30-year-old has played only 23 games over two seasons since.
He holds career averages of 10.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals over 527 contests. A skilled 3-point shooter, the former Georgetown product shot 39.7% from deep.
