Huerter to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery
Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Huerter will undergo shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum and is ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Huerter has missed the Kings' last five games after suffering the injury on March 18 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The team announced last week that he'd been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and labral tear but that treatment options were still being evaluated.
The 25-year-old will be recovered in time for the start of next season.
Huerter started in all but five of his appearances for Sacramento this year, scoring 10.2 points per game on 44.3% shooting from the floor and 36.1% on an average of 5.3 attempts from distance.
Since Huerter's injury, the Kings have promoted second-year wing Keon Ellis to the starting lineup. During those five games, Ellis averaged 8.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 steals. The former Alabama guard has made a total of 11 spot starts this season, during which Sacramento has gone 9-2.
