In 70 games, Maxey averaged a career-high 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and a steal. His 37.5 minutes per game this season ranks second in the league behind Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan.
The former Kentucky Wildcat recorded three games of 50-plus points, tied for the most in the NBA.
The 23-year-old is in his fourth season in the Association and was named an All-Star for the first time.
Maxey took a large step after James Harden was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 5.1 more shot attempts this season than he did last campaign.
The Sixers selected the Kentucky product with the 21st pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Maxey becomes the second player in franchise history to win the award, joining Dana Barros in 1995.
