Embiid disappointed by Knicks fans taking over 76ers' arena

Joel Embiid took issue with the Philadelphia 76ers crowd allowing New York Knicks fans to drown them out during his team's 97-92 Game 4 loss at home Sunday.

"I love our fans. Think it's unfortunate, and I'm not calling them out, but it is disappointing," he told The Athletic's Fred Katz. "Obviously, you got a lot of Knicks fans, and they're down the road, and I've never seen it. And I've been here for 10 years. Yeah, it kind of pisses me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town. They've always shown up, and I don't think that should happen. Yeah. It's not OK."

With the two cities separated by approximately a two-hour drive, plentiful Knicks fans were noticeably audible multiple times throughout a contest in which more than 12 points never separated the teams. After hitting a game-tying floater late in the third quarter while getting fouled, Jalen Brunson celebrated amid a crowd reaction that sounded like Tom Thibodeau's squad was back at Madison Square Garden.

With under a minute to play in a four-point game, the Knicks faithful were again the loudest in the arena as Brunson hit another floater to give him 45 points and New York a six-point lead. The 27-year-old finished with a playoff career-high 47 points while playing all but four minutes in the win, which also puts the 76ers on the verge of a first-round elimination.

Brunson saluted the Knicks supporters for their audible takeover of the Wells Fargo Center.

"I'm not going to lie, this Philadelphia fan base is - I've said this before - but they're very relentless, very passionate. I mean, I'm an Eagles fan, I would know. But seeing the Knicks here, hearing the Knicks here was pretty cool. It's awesome," he said postgame, courtesy of SNY.
