Knicks' Robinson out at least 6-8 weeks with ankle injury
New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson will be re-evaluated in six-to-eight weeks after suffering a stress injury to his ankle, the team announced Tuesday.
The injury timeline likely sidelines him for the remainder of the playoffs.
In six postseason contests, Robinson averaged 2.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and a steal in 19.1 minutes per game. The Knicks are battling the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA playoffs and won Game 1 of the series.
Robinson battled injury troubles this season, playing in a career-low 31 regular-season contests. He suffered an ankle injury in December against the Boston Celtics and missed three months.
One player that could step up in Robinson's absence is big man Precious Achiuwa. He averaged 8.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 39 games between his arrival via trade from the Toronto Raptors and Robinson's return to the lineup.
Robinson holds career averages of eight points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
