T-Wolves' Edwards wants Jordan comparisons to stop

Anthony Edwards wants people to stop comparing his game to Michael Jordan's amid the rising superstar's magical playoff run with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Speaking with ESPN's Malika Andrews, Edwards rejected the direct link to MJ, instead insisting that he's his own unique basketball player.

"(I'm) the first Anthony Edwards, not the next Michael Jordan," Edwards said. "I want people to be like, 'this Anthony Edwards kid, he's got his own style, he's maybe got a mix of Michael Jordan in him.'

"I've got a trey ball, I can shoot the three, so I think that makes me a little different than Michael Jordan."

The uber-athletic guard has performed exceptionally under the bright playoff lights. He's averaging 32.3 points per game on 54.7% shooting from the field this postseason while averaging 6.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists.

Edwards' average of 29.6 points per game in his playoff career sits fourth all time behind Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson, current Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, and Jordan, who ranks first at 33.4 points per game.

Beyond the numbers, Edwards' role as a ball-dominant shooting guard with signature dunks and dribble moves evokes Jordan's style. One challenging fadeaway over a double-team in Minnesota's Game 2 win against the Denver Nuggets was particularly Jordan-esque.

Outside of his lofty statistics, Edwards' play has also led to winning. The Timberwolves are 6-0 in the playoffs after sweeping the Phoenix Suns and taking a surprising 2-0 series lead on the defending champion Nuggets.
