Percy "Master P" Miller is confident the New Orleans Pelicans would become a championship team with him on the coaching staff.

The hip hop mogul and New Orleans native told TMZ Sports he thinks the Pelicans are a "great" team right now but could be even better if they hired him.

"I think we got a great team, I just think that maybe we got to wait a couple more years," Miller said, later adding, "Y'all need to put me on the coaching staff next year, and we gon' win the whole thing."

Miller previously expressed interest in joining the Pelicans' staff in 2021, saying it was time NBA teams did "something different" with their coaching hires.

The 54-year-old has experience coaching at the AAU level and also had a brief playing career in the NBA, appearing in exhibition games with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors in the 1990s. His son, Mercy, is set to play basketball at the University of Houston in the fall.

The Pelicans finished eighth in the Western Conference this season at 49-33. They defeated the Sacramento Kings in the play-in tournament to clinch a spot in the playoffs but were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
