Carmelo working toward NBA ownership: 'I want it now'
Carmelo Anthony is eyeing NBA ownership.
The 10-time All-Star announced Monday that he joined ownership of an expansion team in the National Basketball League, the top men's professional league in Australia and New Zealand, and hopes to make a similar move in the NBA sooner rather than later.
"Now. I want it now," Anthony told Marc J. Spears of ESPN and Andscape while discussing his desire to own an NBA team. "And that's something that I'm working towards as we speak. So I'm actually excited about those opportunities.
"So yeah, I want it now. The time is now for me to get into NBA ownership."

The NBA currently has no concrete timetable in place for expansion, as commissioner Adam Silver stated that any serious discussions on adding new teams won't happen until after the league's new media deal is finalized.
Among the cities considered for potential expansion is Las Vegas, which LeBron James, Anthony's friend and former teammate, has expressed interest in bringing an NBA franchise to.
Anthony had a 19-year career in the NBA that included stints with the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers. He ranks 10th on the league's all-time scoring list with 28,289 points and was selected to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
