The Los Angeles Lakers plan to re-sign guard Max Christie to a four-year, $32-million contract, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
His new contract also reportedly contains a player option.
Christie was reportedly on pace to become a restricted free agent at 6 p.m. E.T. The Lakers tendered him a qualifying offer on Saturday, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, which would have allowed them to match any offers for the Michigan State product.
Christie played in 67 games for L.A. this past season - his second in the NBA - while averaging 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per contest. The former second-round selection was one of the Lakers' youngest members last season and is considered to be one of the roster's promising prospects.
The 21-year-old is likely to factor more heavily into L.A.'s rotation next season under new head coach JJ Redick and will likely provide backup as an off-guard to Austin Reaves. The Lakers will also have starting point guard D'Angelo Russell under contract after he exercised his $18.7-million player option for the 2024-25 season. Star forward LeBron James is expected to return, and the 39-year-old is reportedly willing to take a pay cut so that the organization can acquire other impact additions.
