The Indiana Pacers are signing center James Wiseman to a two-year contract, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The former second overall pick spent the past season-and-a-half with the Detroit Pistons following two-and-a-half years with the Golden State Warriors.

Wiseman has struggled to find his footing in the NBA since starting his career with the Warriors in 2020.

After playing just three games in college at Memphis before being ruled ineligible for the rest of the season, his rookie year in Golden State was derailed by a meniscus injury that limited him to just 29 starts and 39 games. The subsequent recovery from surgery then held him out for all of what would have been his sophomore campaign in 2021-22.

The Warriors, unable to balance the minutes needed to develop the center while also contending for a championship, sent Wiseman to the Pistons as part of a four-team deal in February 2023.

Despite being afforded more minutes with the rebuilding Pistons, the 23-year-old was unable to solidify a long-term role with the young core. In Indiana, he's likely to provide the Pacers with added frontcourt insurance, giving the franchise a true 7-footer off the bench behind starting center Myles Turner.
