Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James isn't hiding his excitement about his son, Bronny James, making the NBA.

"Obviously it's a dream come true for me, just to see my son to be able to be in the NBA alone," James said at a Team USA practice, according to Ben Golliver of the Washington Post. "It's always been a dream of his and for us to be side-by-side."

The Lakers picked the younger James 55th overall in June's draft after he played 25 games at USC. The franchise reportedly handed him a guaranteed four-year, $7.9-million contract, while his father reportedly signed a new two-year, $104-million deal to stay with L.A.

"The kid has worked so hard to get back to this point," LeBron said. "So much has happened over the last year with him, to have this happen less than a year from his incident, to be with our friends and our family when they announced his name, it was something that was super surreal. Our family still don't even have enough words to explain the feeling we have."

Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest before his freshman season during a July practice on campus. He was eventually cleared and returned a month into the season, and he went on to average 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

Prior to the draft, James' agent, Rich Paul, said that LeBron had accepted the potential of not playing with his son as Bronny's landing spot was unclear.

While his dad is preparing for the Olympics, Bronny scored his first points in a Lakers uniform at the California Classic edition of Summer League. LeBron reacted to his bucket, calling it "tough." Bronny finished with four points on 2-for-9 shooting, along with two rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes.
