KD: 'I tend to think about retirement more' as NBA gets younger
The thought of retirement has been on Kevin Durant's mind a lot more these days.
The Phoenix Suns star opened up about his future on Sunday's episode of TV One's "Raising Fame," admitting that he's already started to think about life after basketball.
"As I get older in the league, and the league is getting younger, I tend to think about retirement more," Durant told hosts Sonya Curry and Lucille O'Neal, according to Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. "I'm like, 'Should I stop thinking about it? What is that?' But it creeps in my mind for sure."
The 17-year veteran added that he wants to "stay around the game" after he retires, but that nothing is set in stone as of yet.
"I truly just want to hang out and see what happens," he said. "We built up a lot over these last 16 or 17 years that can kind of sustain us for awhile after I'm done playing, so I can get the space in the room to see what I actually want to do when I'm done playing ball. Because that's gonna be a huge, huge transition."
Durant appeared in 75 games last season, his highest total since the 2018-19 campaign. He averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, five assists, and 1.2 blocks per contest while helping to lead the Suns to a 49-33 record.
