Stephen Curry said he aims to transition into an ownership role once his playing days are over.

The Golden State Warriors star discussed his future goals Tuesday on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street," explaining how the possibility of NBA expansion has piqued his and other current players' interest in becoming owners one day.

"For me, that's definitely on the table," Curry said. "But obviously, I know I have a lot more left to accomplish on the court before you move into any other role within the league. But definitely wanna be a part of the ownership landscape.

"I think I could do a pretty good job of helping sustain how great the NBA is right now, and the things that I've learned over my career, and what it takes to run a championship organization."

When asked what he thinks he could do better in the role, Curry pointed to what the Warriors' current ownership group does well.

"You see how you treat the players first class and the investment that it takes to create that first-class experience so that we feel taken care of, and that allows us to go out there and hoop at a very high level," Curry added. "And representing not just the franchise but the community. Oakland and San Francisco is my adopted home, I've been out there for 16 years.

"You have to be authentic to the community as well and the fan base that you represent that fills the seats. Creating that connection is as important as putting the ball in the basket."

Curry recently agreed to a one-year, $62.6-million extension that will keep him under contract with the Warriors through the 2026-27 season.
