Beverley: 'I know how LeBron feels' now due to overseas fanfare
Patrick Beverley is getting a taste of the superstar treatment now that he's playing overseas.
The 12-year NBA veteran spoke about his experience with Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League on the latest episode of "The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone," saying the amount of attention he's received is akin to what LeBron James experiences.
"I know how LeBron feels," Beverley said. "I leave games, and the guys I played against want pictures, and the coaches that I go against want pictures. The fans that I go against, that boo me, I leave out and it's 30 kids outside, and they all want pictures. And this is every country we go to.
"Like today was a friendly day, friendly game in Belgrade, and I think I took 50 pictures today. Friendly game, not a huge EuroCup game. So what I'm doing is appreciated. To have kids and to have other players and have other coaches from the competing teams to be like, 'Yo, Pat, hey I'm sorry bro, I need this f---ing pic, bro.' Say less. It's been a vibe, it's been vibe. I know how LeBron feels now, seriously."
Beverley signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv in July after splitting the 2023-24 NBA campaign between the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game last season.
The 36-year-old spent the first five years of his professional career overseas, playing in Ukraine, Greece, and Russia before joining the Houston Rockets in 2013.
