Report: Warriors aren't close to deals for Kuminga, Moody

The Golden State Warriors haven't made any significant progress toward extensions for wings Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, sources told The Athletic's Anthony Slater.

The Warriors aren't prepared to give Kuminga a maximum extension or anything that's too close to a $44.8-million annual salary, Slater adds. The two sides remain far apart in tentative discussions.

Golden State has until Oct. 21 to sign either player to extensions. Otherwise, they'll enter restricted free agency next summer.

Kuminga saw a more consistent starting role this past season, averaging 17.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over 46 starts.

Moody, 22, averaged 8.1 points and three rebounds over 66 contests last season.

The Utah Jazz reportedly looked to acquire both players as part of a potential trade for All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen.

The Warriors finished last season with a 46-36 record but were knocked out of the play-in tournament by the Sacramento Kings.

Golden State drafted both players in 2021, picking Kuminga seventh overall and Moody 14th.

The franchise opens the 2024-25 season on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 23.
