Pacers sign former No. 3 pick Okafor to training camp deal
The Indiana Pacers are signing center Jahlil Okafor to a training camp deal, his representation told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Okafor, the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, impressed Pacers' officials in offseason workouts with his health and conditioning, according to Charania.
Since his last stop in the Association with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2021-22 preseason, the 28-year-old has played professionally in the G League, China, Spain, and Puerto Rico.
Okafor's best season in the NBA came in his rookie campaign in 2015-16, where he averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds, and 1.2 blocks en route to an NBA All-Rookie first-team selection.
The former Duke big man also played for the Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Detroit Pistons.
The Pacers ranked 28th in rebounding last season, according to NBA.com. The franchise added another former high lottery pick in James Wiseman to improve the team's presence on the glass.
