Wizards, Kispert agree to 4-year, $54M extension
The Washington Wizards are signing wing Corey Kispert to a four-year, $54-million rookie extension, his representation told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The final year of Kispert's contract is a team option, sources told The Athletic's Josh Robbins.
Kispert averaged 13.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and two assists in 80 games last season. He made 2.3 3-pointers a game, shooting 38.3% from beyond the arc.
"Corey is someone who positively impacts our environment daily. He consistently shows up for the organization as both a player and a teammate, embodying the passion and professionalism we value," Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said. "We are excited that he has the opportunity to continue his growth and development in Washington. He's a relentless worker who has added to his game each season. We look forward to his further evolution in the coming years."
The 25-year-old holds career averages of 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
Kispert is in line for more minutes after Washington traded starting forward Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers in June.
The Wizards drafted Kispert 15th overall in 2021. He previously spent four collegiate seasons with Gonzaga.
Washington opens its season Thursday against the defending champion Boston Celtics.
