Charlotte Hornets wing Brandon Miller strained his left glute in Wednesday's season opener against the Houston Rockets and will be re-evaluated in one week.

Miller played just under 11 minutes in the contest - the fewest of any Hornets player to take the floor. The sophomore didn't play at all in the second half after subbing out with 2:48 remaining in the second quarter. Before his exit, Miller shot 2-of-4 while splitting a pair of threes and made his only free-throw attempt, scoring six points and logging an assist, a steal, and a rebound.

The former second overall pick won't suit up for Friday's encounter with the Atlanta Hawks and will almost certainly miss Saturday's game against the Miami Heat. He's also likely to remain sidelined Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors.

Miller averaged 17.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in the 2023-24 campaign, his debut effort. The former Alabama star was second among rookies in scoring last season, trailing only San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama.
