Kuzma 'taking a backseat' to NBA tunnel fits

Kyle Kuzma's days of wearing over-the-top tunnel looks appear to be behind him.

In an interview with Leah Faye Cooper of Vogue, the Washington Wizards forward explained his more subdued approach to pregame fashion in his eighth NBA season.

"I don't want to be a part of that type of community where you have to put on a fit," Kuzma said. "I'm really taking a backseat to all of that."

The 29-year-old has drawn plenty of attention for his tunnel looks in the past, most notably the oversized pink sweater he wore in 2021 that was later featured on a Kuzma bobblehead.

Kuzma told Vogue that while he was "a pretty evident person within the tunnel years ago," he doesn't like the pressure it puts on some players.

"I can speak from experience that when you're a younger player, you don't want to wear the same thing twice," he said. "A lot of times we get played into thinking, 'Oh, we gotta switch it up, we gotta buy something new.' And now we're just buying clothes to impress people or to stand out. It's ludicrous."

Kuzma is in his fourth season with the Wizards after arriving via trade from the Los Angeles Lakers in August 2021. He's averaging 13 points, five rebounds, and two assists through two games this season.
