Lakers' Wood out at least another 4 weeks with knee injury
Los Angeles Lakers forward Christian Wood developed soreness in his left knee during his ramp-up process and will be out at least another four weeks, head coach JJ Redick told ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Wood underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee back in March and was expected to miss several weeks. He had to get a second procedure on his knee in early September, and the team announced at the time that he would be out for a minimum of eight weeks.
He hasn't played in an NBA game since Feb. 14, missing the Lakers' final 26 regular-season games and five playoff contests last year, as well as all 10 games this campaign.
Wood exercised his $3-million player option in the offseason after signing a two-year, $5.7-million contract ahead of the 2023-24 season. The Lakers currently lack depth in the frontcourt, as Jarred Vanderbilt has also yet to suit up this season with a foot injury.
Wood holds career averages of 13.6 points, seven rebounds, and 1.4 assists across 339 games.
L.A. has a 6-4 record and sits seventh in the Western Conference. The Lakers will look to extend their win streak to three against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
