Wembanyama returns from 3-game absence vs. Warriors
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama started Saturday's game versus the Golden State Warriors after missing three games with a right knee contusion.
The Spurs will monitor his minutes and be conservative, interim coach Mitch Johnson said, according to ESPN's Michael C. Wright.
Wembanyama suffered the injury Nov. 15 in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The reigning Rookie of the Year banged knees with Anthony Davis in the fourth quarter. He exited briefly but returned to finish the game after receiving medical attention.
The 7-foot-4 Frenchman was averaging 22.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.7 blocks to begin his sophomore season. He's shooting 47.2% from the field and 33.9% from beyond the arc.
The Spurs won two out of three games without Wembanyama. They sit 11th in the Western Conference with an 8-8 record.
