Klay: 'Warms my heart' to see Warriors fans wearing my jersey
Klay Thompson made his second return to the Bay Area as a member of the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night, helping his team come away with a 143-133 win over the Golden State Warriors.
Although Thompson acknowledged there was less fanfare surrounding his return this time around, he still felt the love from the crowd at Chase Center.
"It still warms my heart to see all of the No. 11 jerseys," Thompson said during his postgame interview. "It still makes me incredibly grateful for the time I did have here. Legendary stuff. But now it's time to do some legendary stuff in Dallas, and I truly believe in this team."
Thompson was dealt to the Mavs in July as part of a six-team trade after 13 years and four NBA championships with the Warriors. He switched to No. 31 in Dallas, as No. 11 belonged to Kyrie Irving.
The five-time All-Star finished with 29 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 29 minutes Sunday. Thompson will face his former team two more times this season on Feb. 12 and Feb. 23.
