The NBA announced Saturday that Dallas Mavericks forward Naji Marshall was suspended four games without pay and forward P.J. Washington one game following Friday's on-court altercation with Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic.

Nurkic was handed a three-game suspension without pay.

The incident occurred with 9:02 remaining in the third quarter of Dallas' 98-89 win. Nurkic was charged with an offensive foul on the Mavs' Daniel Gafford and then clashed with Marshall.

Nurkic initially swung his arm at Marshall's head, and Marshall responded by throwing a punch that connected with Nurkic's face. Players and officials attempted to separate the two, but Washington escalated things by shoving Nurkic to the floor.

All three men were assessed technical fouls and ejected, though Marshall tried to continue the scuffle after exiting the court.

"Following the on-court incident, Marshall attempted to further engage Nurkic in a hostile manner in the corridor outside the locker rooms," the league said in a statement.

Marshall will surrender $236,452 in total salary, Washington will lose $89,080, and Nurkic will be out the most at $375,000, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Marshall will begin serving his suspension and Washington will serve his one game Saturday when the Mavs face the Portland Trail Blazers. Nurkic will begin his ban Saturday when the Suns visit the Golden State Warriors.
