Hornets' Miller out indefinitely with torn wrist ligament
Former second overall pick Brandon Miller has a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist and will be sidelined indefinitely, the Charlotte Hornets announced Friday.
The 22-year-old got hurt in Charlotte's 117-112 win over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, though he didn't ever exit the contest.
The ex-Alabama star is scoring 21 points per game in his second season, second on the Hornets only to LaMelo Ball. He's also averaging 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals.
Miller's injury is the latest blow in a difficult season for Charlotte. Friday's win over the Chicago Bulls - which Miller missed - was Ball's fifth game back after he missed three straight with ankle and wrist soreness. The 23-year-old guard missed 11 of 15 contests over a month-long stretch beginning in late November, during which the Hornets went 1-14.
Charlotte has also been without fellow starters Miles Bridges and Mark Williams for extended stints this season.
Despite the win, Charlotte (10-28) remains six games back of Chicago for the Eastern Conference's final play-in berth.
