Shai drops career-high 54 in win over Jazz

Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recorded the first 50-point game of his career Wednesday night, dropping 54 points in a 123-114 victory over the Utah Jazz.

Gilgeous-Alexander also set a record for most points scored in a single game by a Canadian player in NBA history.

"I felt like I could've had a lot more," Gilgeous-Alexander said about his performance, according to Clemente Almanza of OKC Thunder Wire.

Gilgeous-Alexander enjoyed two 45-point performances earlier this season that marked his previous career high. The first came against the Los Angeles Clippers, and the second came against the Indiana Pacers.

Russell Westbrook and Fred Brown hold the franchise record for most points scored in a single game. Westbrook dropped 58 points against the Portland Trail Blazers in 2017, while Brown scored 58 for the SuperSonics in 1974 before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City.

The Thunder continue to lead the Western Conference and improved to 36-7 with the victory. They face the Dallas Mavericks on the second night of a back-to-back Thursday.
