Adebayo: Playing hurt 'comes with the responsibility of carrying' Heat
Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo has done whatever he can to keep his team on a winning path.
"We're all banged up. It comes with the responsibility of carrying this team," Adebayo said Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang.
Adebayo has missed just one game this season and is averaging over 33 minutes a night. Guard Tyler Herro has also missed one contest and has been playing even more minutes than Adebayo.
Both players have been thrust into leadership roles as disgruntled star Jimmy Butler tries to force a trade.
"We got enough chaos going on around here," said Adebayo. "So, for me and Tyler, it's really buying into just trying to get every win. Rain, sleet, snow, injured, healthy, we still push through."
The Heat have been without Butler at multiple points this season. Miami indefinitely suspended the six-time All-Star on Monday for a "continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team, and intentionally withholding services." It's the third time the Heat have suspended Butler in January.
Miami has gone 5-5 throughout Butler's suspensions. It sits sixth in the East at 23-22.
Adebayo is averaging 15.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.5 assists this season. Herro is putting up a career-high and team-leading 24.1 points per game.
