Report: Pacers send injured Wiseman to Raptors
The Indiana Pacers are trading center James Wiseman and cash to the Toronto Raptors, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The Pacers will receive a future top-55-protected second-round selection in return, according to Sportsnet's Blake Murphy.
Wiseman, 23, is expected to miss the rest of the campaign after tearing his left Achilles in the first game of the season.
The move gives Indiana more breathing room under the NBA tax line, ESPN's Bobby Marks reported. The Pacers were just $147,000 clear of the luxury tax before trading Wiseman, who's earning $2.2 million this season and has a $2.6-million team option for 2025-26. It also opens up a roster spot should they choose to try to sign someone in the buyout market.
Wiseman averaged 7.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 63 games for the Detroit Pistons last season, making six starts. He signed a two-year deal with the Pacers in the summer but played just 4-and-a-half minutes in their regular-season opener against his former team before getting injured.
