Giannis to miss ASG with calf strain
Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play in the All-Star Game and the team's last three contests heading into the All-Star break due to an ongoing calf strain, according to The Athletic's Eric Nehm.
Antetokounmpo already missed three games due to the injury. The team is hoping he will return Feb. 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The 30-year-old is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game.
Antetokounmpo is slated to miss his 10th game of the season Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers. He must appear in 65 games to qualify for end-of-season awards.
The former MVP missed the playoffs last season with a calf strain.
Antetokounmpo made the All-Star Game the last eight seasons. He accumulated 4,435,266 fan votes this season, the most in the league.
The Bucks are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 27-23 record.
