Report: Hornets considering options to dispute nixed trade with Lakers
The Charlotte Hornets are exploring ways to dispute Mark Williams' failed physical that rescinded their trade with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The Hornets have contacted the NBA regarding the issue, Charania adds.
The Hornets traded Williams to the Lakers for Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2030 pick swap, and a 2031 unprotected first-rounder ahead of the league's trade deadline Thursday. Deals can't be amended following the deadline.
Williams' physical with the Lakers reportedly showed multiple issues unrelated to the 23-year-old's back ailments, leading L.A. to nix the deal.
The Hornets issued a statement after the trade was undone, saying: "We are excited to welcome Mark back to our Hornets organization. After the other team aggressively pursued Mark, we made the difficult decision to move him."
