George: 76ers 'just don't have the habits of a champion'
Paul George doesn't think the Philadelphia 76ers are approaching things like a championship team.
"Regardless of who's playing, who's not playing ... we've shown no sign of a team that will compete," George said after the Sixers' 142-110 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday, according to Derek Bodner of PHLY Sports. "We just don't have the habits of a champion or a playoff-contending team."
George continued: "So to be honest right now, it's a little far-fetched. All we can do is work hard, try to keep going for one another. But we've shown no signs of forget (a) championship (team), but a playoff-contending team here."
George led the 76ers in scoring Monday with 19 points, while Joel Embiid sat due to injury management. They were down by as many as 50 points.
The result marked Philadelphia's eighth straight loss and brought its record to 20-37. The absences of George and Embiid throughout the season, along with other injuries, have derailed the team's championship hopes. The All-Star duo has only played together in 18 contests.
The Sixers signed George to a four-year, $212-million deal over the offseason. The 34-year-old is averaging the fewest amount of points (16.1) since his sophomore season in 2011-12.
Philadelphia faces the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
