NBA veteran P.J. Tucker intends to sign a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.

The 39-year-old hasn't played since the 2024 playoffs when he was a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. L.A. traded him to the Utah Jazz in February, and he was subsequently flipped to the Toronto Raptors in the five-team trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. The Raptors then waived him.

The Knicks believe Tucker brings championship experience, a veteran presence, and an enforcer mentality, according to The Athletic's Fred Katz.

New York lost All-Star guard Jalen Brunson for at least two weeks due to a sprained ankle suffered Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Tucker holds averages of 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 13 seasons. He has shot 36.6% on 3-pointers over his career.
