Darko Milicic wanted to rip off suit to reveal Pistons jersey at draft

As if peroxide-highlighted hair wasn't enough, Darko Milicic wanted to rip off his suit at the 2003 NBA Draft to reveal a Detroit Pistons jersey underneath.

While that would have been awesome and lived in YouTube infamy, it was the first instance of doubt for general manager Joe Dumars:

But the red flags came early for Milicic. When he relayed his idea of wearing a suit to the draft and then ripping if off — Superman-style — upon his name being announced, revealing a Pistons jersey, Dumars wisely cautioned against it. It was then that the doubts began to creep into Dumars's head.

Of course, Milicic was not nearly as good as Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh or Dwyane Wade, the three players taken after him, and he never lived up to his lofty draft position.

Milicic wasn't a complete waste as a player, just a major bust as the No. 2 pick - he played 468 games over 10 seasons and averaged six points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.

As for whether it would have worked practically, we already know Milicic can rip off clothes with the best of them:
