LeBron becomes 1st athlete to receive own Ken doll
LeBron James is now part of the Barbie universe.
Mattel announced Wednesday that it's partnering with the Los Angeles Lakers star and his LeBron James Family Foundation to release a Ken doll in his likeness. James is the brand's first "Kenbassador" and the first professional athlete to receive their own rendition of the Ken doll.
"As a young kid, I was fortunate to have role models who not only inspired me but also showed me what's possible through hard work and dedication," James said in a press release. "Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to. That's why partnering with Barbie to release the LeBron James Kenbassadors doll is such an honor.
"It's an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of role models who instill confidence, inspire dreams, and show kids that they, too, can achieve greatness."
James' version stands one inch taller than the standard Ken doll and comes decked out in a custom varsity jacket, Nike Terminator High sneakers, Beats headphones, and a fanny pack. James worked with Mattel to help customize the outfit.
The James doll will be available for purchase beginning April 14.
