Morant exits Game 3 loss to OKC due to hip injury
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant did not return to Thursday's 114-108 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 after suffering a hip injury.
Morant was hurt after taking a hard fall following contact from Luguentz Dort on a dunk attempt late in the second quarter. The officiating crew deemed the contact a common foul, with no flagrant foul assessed.
Morant was in visible pain but limped to the line to take his free throws. He missed both before checking out and heading straight to the locker room.
The 25-year-old would've been automatically ruled out of the game if he hadn't attempted his free throws, per NBA rules.
Morant scored 15 points and five assists in 16 minutes before leaving. The Grizzlies were ahead by 29 when he left, but could not hold the lead in the second half without him.
The Thunder now lead the first-round series 3-0 and will look for the sweep on Saturday.
