The Toronto Raptors chose South Carolina forward Collin Murray-Boyles with the ninth overall selection in the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday.
The South Carolina native turned 20 in June after wrapping up two seasons in Columbia. The Gamecocks struggled in a loaded SEC, finishing last with a 2-16 record. Despite his team's putrid season in conference play, Murray-Boyles still earned All-SEC second-team honors.

Murray-Boyles pairs an intense motor with elite processing ability, reading and reacting to offenses at a level rarely seen in college. He averaged 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game and constantly plugged defensive holes for South Carolina. Murray-Boyles' offense is somewhat limited; he hit 39 total threes across his two campaigns. However, he possesses a great touch around the rim despite not being a high flyer.
NBA comparison: Draymond Green. Relating an undersized forward with a ridiculous wingspan and elite defensive instincts to Green has become the stereotypical comparison in recent years. However, this time it's apt. Murray-Boyles can guard up to four positions because of his immense strength and impressive 8-foot-10 standing reach, making him the most versatile defender in the class.
