Kings ink Murray to 5-year, $140M rookie extension
The Sacramento Kings rewarded forward Keegan Murray with a five-year, $140-million rookie extension contract, his agents told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Murray averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 2024-25. His scoring took a dip from his 15.2 points per game on career-best 45.4% shooting in 2023-24.
The 25-year-old has started in 231 of his 233 appearances across three NBA campaigns.
Murray particularly shined in his first year out of Iowa, averaging 12.2 points and shooting a personal-best 41.1% from three. His efforts earned him All-Rookie first-team honors, and he finished fifth in Rookie of the Year voting.
He's displayed flashes of brilliance during his Kings tenure, highlighted by a 47-point performance in December 2023 against the Utah Jazz.
Sacramento's one playoff appearance in the past 19 seasons came in Murray's rookie campaign, a first-round exit to the Golden State Warriors.
