Gregg Popovich explains Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan's success
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was asked about the longevity and continued success of Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and Spurs forward Tim Duncan. Unsurprisingly he mentioned their competitive nature, but he also mentioned maturity.
"They're special people. It comes from within. Their competitiveness, their mental toughness. Their willingness to be consistent leaders and competitors night after night. That's what the great players do. They do it night after night after night. Because a lot of people can have good nights, but people like those two guys understand it's their responsibility to do it night after night. That makes them different."
Neither Kobe Bryant or Tim Duncan played Friday when their two teams met.
