Mavs' Davis out another 7-10 days with calf strain
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis remains unavailable for the next 7-10 days as he continues to recover from a strained left calf.
The Mavericks announced Oct. 31 that the 10-time All-Star would at least miss an upcoming two-game road trip. Since then, Davis has sat out eight straight contests and could be sidelined for another six if he returns following the 10-day timeline.
The 32-year-old was averaging 25 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks through the first four games of the campaign when he sustained the injury roughly six minutes into Dallas' Oct. 29 win over the Indiana Pacers. The Mavs posted a 1-3 record in four complete games with the five-time All-NBA forward. However, they've won just one of their eight outings without him in the lineup this season - a 111-105 victory over the Washington Wizards, one of four NBA clubs with fewer wins (one) than the Mavericks' three.
Davis was the headline acquisition for Dallas in the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February, but injuries have decimated his time with the Mavs. He missed 18 straight games after aggravating a groin injury during his team debut on Feb. 8 and played just eight contests last season after returning.
On Tuesday, Dallas fired Nico Harrison, the organization's general manager at the time of the trade. He was in his fifth season in charge of the Mavericks' basketball operations and constructed the squad, led by Doncic, that reached the NBA Finals in 2024.
