Dunleavy denies Warriors actively shopped Draymond

Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. rebuffed reports that the team included veteran forward Draymond Green in trade talks before Thursday's deadline.

"His name was not in conversations, other than the ones where teams call me and ask about him, which they do every year," Dunleavy said Saturday, courtesy of ESPN's Anthony Slater.

"So nothing's new here. The idea that he 'stayed' with the Warriors past the deadline was greatly exaggerated - there was never a possibility of him not being here, (not) remotely close, to be honest."

Green was reported to have been included in some of Golden State's potential offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. With Antetokounmpo earning over $54 million this season and Milwaukee presumably uninterested in receiving the injured Jimmy Butler, Green's near-$26-million salary likely would have been combined with Jonathan Kuminga - now with the Atlanta Hawks - if the Bucks felt compelled by the offer.

Milwaukee, however, opted not to trade Antetokounmpo, electing to hold on to the injured Greek star until at least this offseason. Meanwhile, the Warriors turned to the Hawks and acquired floor-spacing big man Kristaps Porzingis for Kuminga and Buddy Hield.

"Draymond was not being shopped or talked about in deals. So, it's a little misleading," Dunleavy added. "We're kind of picking up the pieces here but I think he's in a great spot and so are we moving forward."

Green, 35, is in his 14th NBA season and spent his entire career with the Warriors. He's averaging 8.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 26.6 minutes per game, all of which are down from the numbers he posted last season.
