SAS 109, PHI 85: Spurs win in blowout as Sixers fall to .500 for first time
The Philadelphia 76ers fell to .500 for the first time this season as the San Antonio Spurs won their fifth consecutive game Monday, 109-85, at Wells Fargo Center.
Here's what you need to know...
- Philadelphia scored less than 100 points for just the third time this season. The Sixers entered play averaging 105.9 ppg, but have not scored more than 93 points in the last seven meetings with the Spurs
- The Spurs held the Sixers to just 42.9 percent from the field and 85.5 ppg in the 2012-13 series, virtually identical to Monday's result
- Evan Turner led the scoring with 20 points, extending his streak of 18+ points to eight games and his fourth straight at 20+. The last Sixer to score 20+ points in four consecutive contests was Elton Brand from 11/2-11/7/10.
- Rookie Michael Carter-Williams took a backseat Monday with eight points. It's his first game in his last six to score in single digits. He recorded three steals and four assists in the effort.
- Center Spencer Hawes posted his fifth double-double this season with his 17 points (13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks)
- The Spurs won their fifth straight to improve to 7-1
- Led by Danny Green's five three-pointers, the Spurs notched a new season high in field goals made from the three with 13, one night removed from knocking down 12 at New York.
- San Antonio bested its season high in assists with 29. Tony Parker led with nine.
- Patty Mills had four of the Spurs' nine steals.
- Six Spurs finished with double-digit scoring efforts - Leonard (13), Splitter (11), Green (18), Parker (14), Mills (10), Belinelli (12)
It sure was thoughtful of Pops to let Tim Duncan rest tonight.
And give the kids some credit...the Knicks are supposed to be way better than:
