Stan Van Gundy isn't buying the hype around the Miami Heat.
The broadcaster and former Heat head coach expressed skepticism about the team's championship prospects heading into the 2026-27 season, while questioning the effectiveness of stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
"I'm not as high on Miami as a lot of people are," Van Gundy said on "The Zach Lowe Show."
"They did go out and add some shooting around those guys. But the shooting that they added compromises them badly at the defensive end of the floor."
Van Gundy added that he'd be "surprised" if the Heat finish in the top six in the Eastern Conference.
He also has doubts about Antetokounmpo's ability to stay healthy, saying "this guy's broken down badly over the last few years."
Antetokounmpo played in a career-low 36 games in 2025-26 as he dealt with multiple serious injuries.
Van Gundy went on to question the offensive capabilities of Adebayo, who averaged 20.1 points and scored a historic 83 points in a game in March.
"I think (Andrew) Wiggins is a little underrated, but I think Bam is a little overrated, particularly at the offensive end of the floor," he said.
"I don't know. I'm not sold on them."
