During Sunday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade blocked a Kemba Walker jump shot.
The block marked the 675th of Wade's career which, according to ESPN's Heat Index, is the highest mark ever for a player 6-foot-4 or shorter. He passed Dennis Johnson for the somewhat-unofficial lead (the statistic has only been kept since 1973, and it's unclear how accurate reported heights are, but still).
As Tom Haberstroh points out in the article, the player Wade has blocked the most is Joe Johnson. Second most, however, is Dwight Howard, and Brook Lopez isn't far behind.
Get this: Wade has blocked a 7-footer more times (45 total) than players who are 6-feet or shorter (35 total). The average height of a Wade blocked player? 6-foot-6. The tallest player he has blocked? That would be former teammate Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who is 7-3. The shortest? Earl Boykins, at 5-5.
In his career, Wade has averaged just shy of a block per game with 676 blocks in 679 appearances. He is second on the Miami Heat's all-time block list, nearly 1,000 blocks behind Alonzo Mourning.
