Report: Bulls a 'strong frontrunner' to sign Augustin
The Toronto Raptors released veteran point guard D.J. Augustin on Monday.
Should Augustin clear waivers on Wednesday, as expected, the Chicago Bulls are a likely landing spot:
The Raptors deemed Augustin expendable with four other point guards on the roster following Sunday's trade with the Sacramento Kings. In 10 games with the Raptors, Augustin averaged just 8.2 minutes, 2.1 points and one assist.
A Texas product, Augustin's career has really tailed off in the past two years after a solid four-year stint in Charlotte.
However, the Bulls are desperate at the point with Derrick Rose out for the season. Starter Kirk Hinrich is currently backed up by 38-year-old Mike James and likely D-League candidate Marquis Teague.
