Blazers-Clippers slugfest sets NBA record with 40 lead changes
What. A. Game.
We're still out of breath from watching the Trail Blazers against the Clippers and the Heat against the Warriors at the same time. There may not have ever been two games this good being played simultaneously.
But you pretty much have to give the entertainment edge to Clippers-Blazers. While Heat-Warriors had the major comeback (the Warriors pulled off a 20-2 run in the third quarter) and Steph Curry and LeBron James trading clutch baskets, well, when a game does something like this there's just no topping it:
That tweet came with about four minutes left to play, and the Clippers and Blazers would go on to trade the lead five more times. 40 lead changes in one game. The previous NBA record was 34 lead changes, set back on Dec. 7, 2005 in a game between Phoenix and New Jersey, and even that was a double-overtime game.
It just doesn't get better than that. Just check out this GameFlow from ESPN:
In the end, the Clippers came out the victors, winning 122-117. Blake Griffin continued his red-hot play with 36 points on 13-of-21 shooting, with 10 rebounds for good measure. Chris Paul had 20 points and 12 assists, and Jamal Crawford added 25 as well.
For the Blazers, LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 25 points but there's was a more balanced attack. Six players scored at least 11 points and seven different players hit a three.
The teams combined to shoot 54.6 percent from the floor, 41.5 percent on threes and 83 percent on free throws. It was offensive heaven.
Scratch that, it was just heaven.
