GIF: Paul George lays out Iman Shumpert with nasty elbow

Down 12 with 2.2 seconds left in the first half, the Indiana Pacers had visions of one last heave at the Knicks' basket as David West fired an inbounds pass to Paul George.
The Pacers guard quickly spun around with his elbows up, laying out Iman Shumpert, who drew an offensive foul in truly the worst way.

While the blow, based on George's reaction, didn't appear to be malevolent, ESPN played devil's advocate:
